First time drawing Spike in a while. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I liked her outfit in episode 15…
Obviously a ton of issues as usual, but I think my looser approach to linework in this one is a step in the right direction.

There’s a few issues with this that I can notice: Her eyes came out a little off, the arm holding the umbrella is funny and chest area in general is poorly drawn. That chest area is actually pretty difficult, since there’s a lot of complicated fabric stuff going on, so I usually screw it up pretty bad. There are more issues, too.
But yeah, I just wanted to draw this.

It’s been a while since Comiket but… otsukaresamadeshita…
Nothing’s really inspired me to do fanart as of late (Ikoku and iDOLM@STER are almost there) but I read a random chapter of Zetsubou Sensei recently and was reminded of why I like Fujiyoshi so… I drew her. Again. This is also my first illustration in a looooong while, so it’s a bit of drawing rehab in a way.
The angle of the bars and the perspective of the grid on the ground don’t match up, but I don’t really care at this point.

Even though I wasn’t completely satisfied with Denpa Onna, I may do some fanart of that eventually. The new season is looking good, so I’ll probably do stuff from that at some point, too.

Not much anime is particularly inspiring me to do fanart recently (Maybe I’ll do some Nichijou or Denpa Onna stuff) so I’ve been doing more original artwork. There’s no real good laid back group shot of all the characters, so I figured I’d do one that easily expresses their personalities. Those personalities being, from left to right: awkward angry nerd, cheerful girl, and awkward angry nerd. Mistakes of Youth is far from having memorable or deep characters.
I really wanted this to turn out well, but I failed in execution a bit. The drawings are definitely the weakest link here, and I don’t think the shading is very good either. I do however like how the background turned out, as well as the lighting. So overall I’m not unhappy with the piece as a whole.
There’s actually some background needed for this picture. See, in Boston (where I used to live) there is an anime store called Tokyo Kid. On the staircase heading up to the floor Tokyo Kid is on, there used to be a display advertising the store. This display boasted a cardboard cutout of Naru from Love Hina in a bikini, as well as some figures and stuff. If you haven’t already guessed, Tokyo Kid is the anime store the store in the comic is based off of. The store was never actually given a name in the comic, so I decided to call it “Akiba Kid” for this picture. This background is meant to be the display leading up to the store.
Incidentally, I think the best part of the picture is the Naru I drew. I kind of just threw together her entire body in a few minutes, and it ended up looking pretty good. I didn’t even do much in the way of back drawing. I need to figure out how to do that more often.

I don’t think I do nearly enough individual illustrations of my own characters, so here’s Tina posing in a bikini in her room. I may do a series of these, but I’m not quite sure yet.
I hope her right arm looks foreshortened and not just deformed…

Turned out pretty boring. It’s actually harder to do simple poses, because your deficiencies as an artist really shine when you can’t do simple things correctly. You can kind of bullshit with more complicated poses.
